I've been photographing my commute on Muni, Caltrain, and BART almost all of 2008. Hopefully my project will be a Blurb book by the end of the year. In the meanwhile I've posted some of the photos on Flickr.

First, let me compliment you on your photos - they are beautiful.
Now, let me say what a fucking idiot you are. Your little survey on how many people MUNI should run over is insensitive at best. Mostly, it is incredibly offensive.
I used to be one of those MUNI operators you seem to hate so much. And yes, I was involved in a fatality accident in 2005. There I was, minding my own business, on the San Jose right-of-way on the J-Church line, just past Glen Park Bart heading outbound. And wouldn't you know it, some fool, drunk on his motorcycle, coming at me head on. He was on the wrong side of a divided road, right in between the rails, and eventhough I saw him as soon as possible, and put the train in emergency brake as soon as possible, he didn't even slow down until he ran strainght into the front of my train. He flew 55 feet in the air, landed on the other side of the road and died before he even hit the ground. And lucky me, i get to hold that image in my head the rest of my life.
Last year, MUNI was involved in 8 fatality accidents. 2 were suicides. Of the other 6, 5 were determined by the cops to be mostly the fault of the other driver/pedestrian, NOT the MUNI operator. People do very stupid things around MUNI. Yes, MUNI operators are supposed to be professional and avoid accidents. And they do, more than you will ever know. When I operated the LRVs, there wasn't a trip that I didn't avoid a possible major accident that someone else was creating - except once, of course.
You seem to think MUNI operators just don't care. Come on, do you really think any operator is out there TRYING to kill people? Do you think they wake up in the morning and think, "Hmmmm, it's a good day to run someone over. That sounds like fun?"
Don't be such an insensitive ass.
But by all mean, keep up the great photography.
(However, transit agencies do have genuine concerns when it comes to people taking photos. It isn't publisized, but MUNI has caught people in the subway tunnels taking notes and photos. Why would they be doing that?)
Your points are well taken and I appreciate your comment. I have a few comments:
Operators who run the N up the hill from La Playa with doors open are trying to kill people.
I'm sure most of the guys Muni has found taking notes and photos are railfans, journalists, and just people who like to look at cool stuff. Maybe there's a Friend of Bin Laden in there somewhere. Who knows.
And finally, Google won't run ads on pages containing certain obscenities, so publishing this post is potentially costing me, I dunno, a dime or something. Obviously this blog is not a big money maker.
